The Development Action Group (DAG), in partnership with us (the TRUP Association) is co-hosting 11 days of "Change by Design" workshops with Architecture Sans Frontières-UK involving international architects committed to assisting communities articulate their visions for the area.
The 11 day workshop begins next week, _Monday, 26th June 2017_, and uses participatory design methods as a tool for advocacy and socio-spatial transformation in urban spaces.
The workshops see participants (mix of local and international architects/ planners and CBOs) engaging and working in collaboration with grassroots organisations, local NGOs, governmental agencies, and members of the public involved in land rights issues, urban settlement upgrading, and housing rights.
One of the project areas will be Oude Molen Eco Village and Maitland Garden Village.
We would like to encourage all interested and affected parties concerned with the future of these areas to engage in this process.
Please indicate you availability to share your local knowledge and dreams by being available on Thursday 29 June, Saturday 1st July and Tuesday 4th July to engage with the architects throughout these days: all day, late afternoon after work, and evenings are also acceptable!

Sharing this event in case you are interested in attending.
The purpose of the meeting is to get feedback and new ideas for the different aspects of the business plan (security, cleansing, etc.). The idea is not to make decisions at the meeting, but to identify possible changes that can be investigated further.
The Liesbeek River Manager, accompanied by environmentalist Edward Tilanus, will lead a walk through the wetlands to mark World Wetlands Day. Come and learn about this important ecological and social site!
